The Ford Maverick launched in 2022 and immediately sold out. That is not a cliche -- Ford could not make enough of them. The reason is simple: it is a genuine pickup truck that starts under $30,000, gets 42 MPG city on the hybrid powertrain, and fits in a parking garage. For a lot of people around Hopkinsville, that is exactly what a truck should be.

It seats five, carries a payload of up to 1,500 lbs, and can tow up to 4,000 lbs with the available 4K Tow Package -- enough for a small trailer, a couple of personal watercraft, or a weekend load of gear headed out to Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park. The FLEXBED cargo system makes the 4.5-foot bed more functional than its size suggests. And the 13.2-inch SYNC 4 touchscreen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto is standard on every single trim.

That is the EPA city estimate for the hybrid FWD configuration. The combined estimate is 38 MPG. Real-world owners regularly report 40 to 55 MPG in mixed driving, particularly in city conditions where the hybrid electric motor does more of the work. If most of your driving is around Hopkinsville and Fort Campbell Boulevard, expect to be toward the top of that range. Highway driving brings it closer to 34 MPG.
What is the difference between the hybrid and EcoBoost engines?

It is not an F-150, and the 4K Tow Package requires AWD, so plan accordingly.

FLEXBED is Ford's term for the Maverick's cargo bed system. The bed is 4.5 feet long -- shorter than a midsize truck but designed to work harder than its length suggests.
